Receiving a first Olympic medal is supposed to be a momentous and exhilarating occasion for every athlete but not Alysia Montaño. “A stab in the gut, in the heart, really,” is how she describes her supposed moment of triumph. In the days after learning that she could be awarded a bronze medal, Montaño says that her emotions oscillated from joy to sadness to something akin to grief. Savinova celebrates her winning gold at the London Olympics, a title of which she was later stripped. Montaño being awarded her bronze medal from the 2013 world championships in 2019.

I tried protein bars from One, Think!, Quest, Pure Protein, Clif Builders, and Barebells. The Clif Builders protein bar was a bit high in calories but I enjoyed it. AdvertisementProtein bars are becoming really, really popular. To help find which is the best to buy at the grocery store, I bought protein bars in similar flavors from six different brands to review. The amount of protein, calories, fiber, or added sugars a person is looking to consume will vary, so I focused my reviews on taste.

Linda Hennis was checking her Medicare statement in January when she noticed something strange: It said a company she had never heard of had been paid about $12,000 for sending her 2,000 urinary catheters. But she had never needed, or received, any catheters. The report used a federal database of Medicare claims that is available to researchers. Doctors, state insurance departments and health care groups around the country said the spike in claims for catheters that were never delivered suggested a far-reaching Medicare scam. “We think it’s outrageous,” said Clif Gaus, executive director of the group that conducted the analysis.

Artist: Elizabeth WilliamsJust before 8 p.m. on Thursday, 12 jurors found Sam Bankman-Fried guilty of all seven counts against him. (CNBC put out a note requesting access ahead of the trial — an email which was ultimately ignored.) Every exit to file a report included another breakneck trip through security, in a sort of run, rinse, repeat cycle — security, courtroom, exit, photographer's car to file, back up through security, over and over again. CNBC correspondent MacKenzie Sigalos reporting on the Sam Bankman-Fried trial from outside the SDNY courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in downtown Manhattan. Around 8:02 p.m., Bankman-Fried, speechless, began to walk to a room just adjacent to the main court.

They agreed to meet at a coffee shop in Palo Alto in early 2013 to discuss a potential partnership in Ben's probiotic soda company – Obi. However, Obi didn't see the success and traction they'd hoped for, and in 2016, Goodwin and Lester sold Obi. New York CNN —The maker of Oreo and Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate is thanking an increased demand for sweets in the first half of the year for its positive forecast, Mondelez (MDLZ) International said in its second quarter earnings call Thursday. It expects a 12% organic net revenue growth compared to an analyst estimate of 10%, driven in part by high demand for its snacks offsetting the high cost of goods. It’s their second quarter in a row of growth. In the second quarter, net revenue increased 17% to $8.51 billion. It’s notable there was strong demand for snacks as extreme weather, the war in Ukraine, avian flu and higher costs along the supply chain increased global food prices.

Mondelez International Inc. raised its full-year outlook as consumers continue to absorb higher prices for its snacks, though extra costs took a chunk out of its bottom-line in the third quarter. The Chicago-based maker of Oreo cookies and Triscuit crackers said sales rose 8.1% to $7.76 billion in the latest quarter, driven by higher pricing and volume. It also started to log sales following its acquisitions of energy bar marker Clif Bar & Co. and baked goods company Chipita Global S.A., deals valued at $2.9 billion and $2 billion respectively.
At Mondelez, maker of Oreos and many other well-known brands, the supply-chain chief is pushing for a no-touch factory and no-touch distribution center within the next five years. Sandra MacQuillan has steered the supply chain of Mondelez International one of the largest snack companies in the world, through union strikes at its bakeries, production slowdowns and the Covid-19 pandemic. Next up, Ms. MacQuillan is focused on automating plants, navigating inflation and integrating the production and distribution operations of the company’s latest acquisition, Clif Bar & Co.
